Got Flowers in Your Veggie Garden, or Veggies in Your Flower Garden?

Good for you!

Diversity really is the spice of life, but mixing up veggies and flowers brings the best of both together.

Were your tomatoes, spinach and lettuce attacked by aphids last year?  Attack back, put in some marigolds; many bugs can't stand the sight, nor the smell of the them.

Plus they'll brighten up the look of your garden. The little buggers started munching my spinach and new turnips recently, so I put out a militia of marigolds to fight the good fight.

Was your flower garden a little gray this winter? Kick in some kale and chard for bright reds, purples and greens all winter long (at least in the warmer climates, like here in Texas.) What could taste better on cold winter's night than a bowl of hearty kale soup?

Why, some folks even munch on the nasturtiums out of their flower garden to add zip to their salads.

Plus, mixing up plants attracts many different kinds of pollinators, like bees and butterflies, which increases fruit production.

So mix up your flowers and veggies, and spice up your garden and your table.
